A magazine all about cheese?
Yup!! It’s called “Culture” and if you love cheese and you haven’t read it, you should! Now! (or soon). I subscribed to this Cheese Quarterly a while ago and then went on to pretty much forget about it, so it was a great surprise when the glossy turned up in the mail last week. Because it’s been so busy here, it lay on my desk spine un-cracked for a few days but this morning I finally got around to reading it. And I read it from cover to cover! It is an American publication, therefore it’s pretty heavy on American cheese, but it also has features and snippets on a million other things – tasting advice, stories of family creameries, tips and tools, reviews, information on upcoming events… it’s like all the blogs and boards and things I read about cheese packaged in to one edition. It also happens to be very well designed and features beautiful images- which makes me like it even more (I couldn’t possible praise an ugly magazine – its the designer in me)!
If you can get your hands on a copy, flip to page 32, where the story of the Estrella family is told… its one of those touching stories that will make you believe in people (and cheese) a little bit more.
Given that I haven’t established any kind of rating system, I can’t very well give Culture stars, or a 4/5 or anything like that, but if you love reading about cheese but don’t have the time or patience for long books, this should be your next purchase!
